A space for artists to work, meet and connect with art, artists, curators, critics, collectors, art lovers, neighbours and new acquaintances.
Kuona trust provides a mix of shared and individual studio space for local and international mid career well known artists and emerging artists at our new space in central Nairobi. The main objectives of the studios is to provide subsidized space for artists who would find it hard to afford commercial studio space and to create a community of artists to inspire each other and share ideas and skills
Studio spaces are single, shared or communal but must be used solely for the purposes of making contemporary art. Artists can provide small scale art classes for private clients and are expected to participate in Open studio event, exhibitions and workshops. A committee is set up to make selections for the artists who will take up space in the studios.
A library with a wide range of over 1,500 art and design books and computers with internet access are free of charge to all Kenyan artists and a canteen provides good quality, inexpensive food for artists and visitors alike.
